Join Norman Vilalta and Steven Taffel on Friday, April 12th and Saturday, April 13th for our NYC Trunk Show at Leffot.
The first is our signature Decon Chukka, a unique boot that was created by Norman Vilalta after challenging himself to design a new type of chukka.
Instead of quarters sewn on top of the vamp like a classic chukka, Norman used clever patternmaking to use a single piece of leather to combine the quarters and vamp, and carefully last the leather around the boot to meet at the center back.
When designing this beautiful boot, Norman cut the tongue, facings, and collar separately, enabling the design to incorporate various upper materials.
Norman paired supple suede from Charles Stead with smooth box calf from Tanneries du Puy. This deliberate design choice not only ensures a distinctive texture but also provides a canvas for experimenting with different patinas across two distinct leather types..
With regard to color, we've applied a captivating Orion handmade patina, a sophisticated blend of black and blue. This unique hue offers a touch of individuality without being ostentatious.
Style the Decon Chukka Boot effortlessly with a navy or grey suit for formal occasions, or dress them down with dark denim or khakis for a more relaxed look.
Our second featured boot, is our Robert Chukka Boot in country calf leather from Tanneries du Puy and a comfortable Vibram Button Sole.
The design of our Robert Boot is defined by the combination of slightly bowed facings, double eyelets, and an elongated vamp that creates an elegant silhouette.
The chiseled toe combined with the slightly thicker sole add a sharp, masculine touch and the top stitching along the collar is a subtle design detail that accentuates the profile.
Crafted from pebble grain leather, the Robert Chukka exudes a refined yet subtly rugged charm. The rich and versatile handmade espresso patina effortlessly complements both formal attire and smart-casual ensembles.
Each Goodyear-welted pair of Decon Chukka Boots and Robert Chukka Boots is meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans before delivery. This artisanal process requires 3 to 6 hours of hand-work per pair and results in a bespoke quality finishing that no other ready-made collection has to offer.
Participate in our special pre-order through Tuesday, April 2nd.
Our first shoe is the Luis Balmoral Derby in our popular Espresso patina, a dark brown to milky brown reverse handmade patina.
Luis features our soft square chiseled toe last, four eyelet lacing, and decorative brogues and gimping on the cap toe and balmoral seam.
The vamp, tongue, lower quarters, and heel counter are one piece of leather which wrap around the shoe with the seam hidden at the inner heel. This pattern requires a larger cut of leather and is harder to produce in large quantities since not as many pieces can be cut from the same leather.
The reno calf upper, with darker crevices that contrast with the lighter tones at the top of each grain, combined with the added body of the storm welt, give the entire shoe a wonderful texture and create a slightly bolder silhouette.
The resulting design of the Luis Balmoral Derby matches beautifully when dressed up with work attire or dressed down casually for the weekend.
Our second carefully crafted batch of shoes is the Decon Chelsea Boot in repello suede from Charles F Stead and a handmade Toro patina.
The Decon Chelsea Boot is our flagship boot known for it’s sleek silhouette, and handsomely chiseled toe box combined with an elongated vamp.
The Goodyear-welted boot sports two eyelet facings, which is not only a stunning design detail that is unique to our Chelsea boot but also serves a functional purpose -- The facings give additional ankle support, that combined with the double gore elastic, deliver a glove-like fit.
The elongated vamp and chiseled toe-box are the perfect canvas for our reverse patina, this time with a new Toro patina, a rich black and burgundy handmade patina. The charming patina complements the blues and greys of traditional suiting beautifully and will look wonderful when worn with dark denim.
Our last shoe is our Andres Adelaide Oxford in a warm chestnut handmade patina.
Andrés features our elegant chiseled toe, an asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, a thinly carved waist, a quilted and padded insole, and a hand painted leather sole in purple.
Country calf leather adorns the facings and adds a tactile element that is a nice touch both literally and aesthetically.
The graceful swan seam of this elegant Adelaide compliments the natural shape of the foot and brogue accents delineates the facings and quarters.
We selected our handmade chestnut patina which is a medium brown patina that looks great with a suit and can spruce up a casual outfit on the weekends.
Each Goodyear-welted pair of Luis Balmoral Derbies, Decon Chelsea Boots and Andres Adelaide Oxfords are meticulously hand-finished to perfection before shipment. This artisanal process includes the use of fire, iron tools, sandpapers, waxes, creams and dyes to deliver a bespoke level finishing for every masterpiece.

]]>Our first boot derives it’s design heritage from our timeless Derby Simple Shoe, a derby that customers gravitate to when looking for a versatile shoe that will perform well in both a dress and casual setting.
The clean design of our Derby Simple Boot sports an elegantly elongated vamp, a handsome chiseled toe and a impeccable handmade patina in a lustrous antique brown on rich reno grain calf, a tactile delight that you’ll enjoy running your fingers over.
With 4 eyelets and 3 speed hook lacing, the boot provides a snug and customizable fit, while the lightweight yet durable Vibram Commando Sole ensures traction, making it the ideal companion for the winter season and outdoor trips during the hotter months.
The Derby Simple Boot will elevate your formal attire when paired with a tailored suit or allow you to indulge in a more relaxed setting by combining them with heavy wool flannel, dark denim, or your favorite pair of khakis. With its balanced proportions, Norman’s charismatic design seamlessly transitions from sophisticated to casual flair.
Our second featured boot is a beautiful new make-up of our luxurious mid-cut Brossa Derby Boot.
Taking inspiration from classic American work boots, this luxury version features an unlined shaft for increased ankle mobility, subtle brogue accents that adorn the facings and intricate embroidery along the heel shaft. The carefully crafted design extends to the comfortable Vibram button sole, ensuring every step delivers a harmonious blend of comfort and style.
The exquisite curvature of the heel shaft embraces the ankle with grace, sweeping seamlessly from heel to the bottom of the heel block, providing both support and a polished silhouette.
In this small batch, we have curated the finest Country Calf leather from the renowned Tanneries du Puy. Adding an additional touch of sophistication, our artisans have applied a handmade Orion patina – our signature formula of black and blue with blueish tints gracefully shining through at the toe cap, facings, and heel.
The darker patina effortlessly complements both dress and casual attire. Whether paired with tailored suits for a polished look or styled with more relaxed ensembles.
Our final boot is a gorgeous new version of our Boulevardier Boot in a cognac handmade patina. With two-eyelet lacing, a unique design and a Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole, this boot ensures unparalleled style and comfort, making it the ideal companion for your leisurely strolls through the city.
The Boulevardier Chukka Boot's distinctive design features a single, masterfully crafted piece of grain calf lasted around the toe box, heel, and quarters. Contrasting suede elegantly graces the tongue facings and heel collar, resulting in a harmonious marriage of textures and clever and skillful patternmaking.
Inspired by the vibrancy of New York City and our esteemed friend, Mr. Prieto, the Boulevardier has etched its mark in our brand's history. A custom creation that captivated the world, it emerged as our most popular Instagram post in 2019, igniting a surge of made-to-order requests.
Embodying the spirit of the Boulevardier – an individual who savors life while navigating the city's bustling streets with leisurely strides. This urban explorer, blessed with the luxury of time, embarks on a journey without a fixed path, allowing freedom to explore, discover new inspirations, and create unique narratives.
Each Goodyear-welted pair of Derby Simple Boots, Brossa Derby Boots, and Boulevardier Boots are meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.
For those who are new to the 1202 Heritage Collection, this line our semi-bespoke collection of shoes that give our customers the opportunity to experience the fit, beauty, and elegance of a fully handmade shoe, without the need to go full bespoke.
Each shoe is hand-lasted, hand-welted and outsole stitched by hand in either our workshop in Barcelona or by our teammate Kenjiro Kawashima who is now based in Seoul, Korea after working in our Barcelona atelier for 3 years. Ken is the 3rd place winner of the 2022 Shoemaking World Championship.
After a soft-launch in 2018, with Hugo Jacomet of The Parisian Gentleman, we kept this exclusive line below the radar since we only offered these shoes when our bespoke makers had capacity.
In 2024, we are keeping our fully handmade momentum going with new models and new creative patternmaking, and we are pleased to announce our first launch of the year, our fully handmade Wholecut Oxford in an absolutely gorgeous handmade Orion patina.
The tightly hand-sculpted Wholecut features an upper in supple French box calf leather from Tanneries du Puy, a unique four eyelet lacing which cuts diagonally across the vamp, and our signature asymmetric pattern with no center back seam.
The sexy, slender double-beveled waist is carefully carved by hand, the pitched heel and extremely tight seat deliver a flawless heel silhouette, and the orion patina is perfect for those who want to play with patina but still stay somewhat conservative.
We selected our Wholecut Oxford because it's unlike any other wholecut in the market, it was the best seller of Norman's original bespoke workshop and importantly we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of this special design. Year after year our customers request this shoe for it’s unique pattern and design details, wonderful shape and the ability to be worn dressed up or down as a statement shoe with taste.
For this limited online launch, we have allotted space in our handmade queue for 10 orders. Once we’ve reached this threshold we will not accept more orders until we have additional capacity.
Our fully Handmade Wholecut Oxford is now available to order and each pair will be delivered in approximately 9 to 10 months.
The Decon Chelsea Boot is our flagship boot known for it’s sleek silhouette, featuring a handsomely chiseled toe box combined with an elongated vamp.
The Goodyear-welted boot sports two eyelet facings, which is not only a stunning design detail that is unique to our Chelsea boot but also serves a functional purpose -- The facings give additional ankle support, that combined with the double gore elastic, deliver a glove-like fit.
For this first launch of the year, we produced a new camel handmade patina which is a tan/light brown which look wonderful with the organic colors of the fall/winter and provide a subtle color contrast to suiting.
We also produced a small batch in midnight blue, a sophisticated dark to light blue which look well refined dressed up and are attention grabbing when worn casually.
Our Decon Chelsea Boot in Camel and Decon Chelsea Boot in Midnight Blue are now available online and in our men’s shoe store in Barcelona, Spain.
Each Goodyear-welted pair of Decon Chelsea Boots are meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.
We have a deep appreciation for an upper with a combination of leathers on shoes since the unique canvas allows us to combine and play with texture and patina together. We also wanted to work with a design that is bold with a bit more body to it. As such, we created a new masterpiece of our Derby Megabrogue.
The Derby Megabrogue features a separated cap toe and wingtip, 4 eyelet lacing, an asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, a 270 degree storm welt for weather protection, and a comfortable Vibram Button Sole.
Like it’s name implies, this beauty is adorned with brogues, with embellishments along the wingtip, cap toe, facings, and heel.
We selected country calf from Tanneries du Puy for it’s elegant pebble grains and combined it with repello suede from Charles Stead. To top it off, we added a handsome cognac and caramel handmade patina which will complement the greys and blues of your dress clothes and will be the main attraction when paired with denim on the weekends.
Although the shoe maintains the same elegant shape as our classic round toe derbies, the design elements give the shoe a bolder presence that exudes confidence.
The design is a member of the country style derby and longwing family, but we consider the Derby Megabrogue a more graceful upgrade.
Join our last Group-made-to-order (GMTO) of the year and be a part of an exclusive group who will be able to enjoy our Derby Megabrogue in this astonishing make-up. The GMTO order window closes Tuesday, January 2nd.
After a very successful GMTO collaboration with Leffot in 2021, and small batch of stock that sold quickly last year, this year we’ve created a handsome new make-up of our Brossa Derby Boot in a wonderful pebble grain leather.
The Brossa Boot is a six-eyelet cap toe boot with an unlined shaft, subtle brogue accents on the facings, embroidery along the heel shaft, and a comfortable Vibram button sole.
The shape of the heel shaft hugs the ankle and sweeps gracefully around the heel to the bottom of the heel block.
For this small batch, we selected Country Calf leather from Tanneries du Puy which gives the boot a nice pebbled grain texture and we added a handmade espresso patina which is rich blend of black and dark brown with milky brown tints shining through at the toe cap.
The darker patina can be paired effortlessly with both dress or casual attire.
Our second featured shoe is a fresh new batch of our Boulevardier Boot in a handmade ebony and cognac patina.
With inspiration from our friend Mr. Prieto in New York City, the Boulevardier was a custom boot that made our brand history in 2019 as our most popular Instagram post that initiated a wave of made-to-order requests.
A Boulevardier is someone who enjoys life while on a leisurely walk in the city. He is the urban explorer whose success in life affords him the time to stroll and observe society with a destination in mind, but not fixed to a specific path. This freedom allows the Boulevardier to explore, discover new inspiration, and create new paths.
The Boulevardier features a rich combination of reno grain calf and suede from Charles Stead, two eyelet lacing, and a Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole which will keep your feet comfortable after your leisurely walk through the city.
Our final shoe is our easy to slip-on Manolo Tassel Loafer in a classic Orion patina.
Manolo features an upper in the wonderful texture of reno grain calf, an artisan made apron that is carefully sewn by hand, laced collar with dual tassels and a comfortable, weather resist Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole.
We selected our Orion patina, a handmade patina that looks nearly black in low light and blue under some sun.
Manolo is perfect for those looking for a dress-casual shoe that is simple to put on, easy to dress up or down and slightly more durable. They stand out handsomely with a suit and can easily be worn with denim, khakis, or corduroys.
Each Goodyear-welted pair of our Brossa Derby Boots, Boulevardier Boots and Manolo Tassel Loafers are meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.
Use the code HAPPYHOLIDAYS during checkout for complimentary shipping through Tuesday, January 2nd.
Joseph, named after Josep Dalmau the painter who brought avante garde art to Spain, is our cap toe double monk featuring our signature asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, dual silver buckles, our signature embroidered insole, and a lightweight, comfortable and durable Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole.
Top stitching adorns the top of the monk strap complimenting the outer edge of the strap.
As a rare change for this GMTO, we selected our Onyx patina, a deep black that allows our design details to do the talking (we don't often feature all black shoes). The color compliments formal and work attire and is safe with most casual clothing.
Every pair of Joseph Double Monks Shoe is Goodyear-welted and meticulously hand finished by our artisan team in Spain before shipment.
This artisanal process includes the use of glass, sandpaper, inks, creams, waxes, fire and multiple iron tools to deliver a bespoke quality finishing that the Norman Vilalta brand has become known for.
Join our GMTO by Sunday, December 3rd and enjoy our Joseph Double Monk this next Spring.
To help you navigate these last couple of months and ensure that you absolutely triumph stylistically in 2023, we produced a small batch of three handsome new shoes.
Our first is a new make-up of our Andrés Adelaide Oxford, formerly known as our Adelaide Full Brogue.
Andrés features our elegant chiseled toe, an asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, a thinly carved waist, a quilted and padded insole, and a hand painted leather sole in purple.
The most distinct design feature of our Adelaide Oxford is the graceful swan seam that compliments the natural shape of the foot and delineates the facings and quarters with brogue accents.
Country calf leather adorns the facings and adds a tactile element that is a nice touch both literally and aesthetically.
We selected our handmade Orion patina which is a beautiful reverse patina that looks nearly black in low light and blue under some sunshine.
Andrés looks stunning with a suit and add an elegant pop to a more casual outfit on the weekends.
Our second shoe is our Manolo Tassel Loafer in a classic Onyx patina.
Manolo features an apron that is carefully sewn by hand, a laced collar with dual tassels and the wonderful texture of reno grain calf.
Manolo’s design combines the convenience of a slip-on shoe, casual elegance of our tassel loafer design, and the comfort and weather resistance of a Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole.
The design is perfect for those who appreciate the trend towards “Chonk” yet still want to maintain a more elegant look.
We selected an onyx patina, a classic polished black for those who need a slightly more conservative look.
The Manolo Tassel Loafer stands out handsomely with a suit and can easily be worn dressed down with denim, khakis, or corduroys.
Our final, needs little introduction since it is the shoe that our brand is most known for. We created a small batch of our Decon Chelsea Boot in a handmade Espresso patina.
The Decon Chelsea Boot features an upper in French box calf from Tanneries du Puy, chiseled toe-box, and an elongated vamp. The streamlined silhouette looks sharp and is the perfect canvas for our reverse patina.
The side gore creates a glove like fit and the two eyelet facings give the boot ankle stability and a structured look.
The espresso patina, a dark brown to light brown reverse patina, is great for either those who like our classic brown and cognac patina but need something more toned down, or those who like our solid colors, but want slight variation in color.
The sophisticated design will elevate any look from dress pants to khakis to dark denim.
Each Goodyear-welted pair of our Andres Adelaide Oxfords, Manolo Tassel Loafers and Decon Chelsea Boots are meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.
A cousin of our popular Derby Simple and Coltrane Wingtip Balmoral Derby, clients fell in love with this shoe because of it’s versatility. Essentially, Willem can be worn easily with anything. After multiple MTO inquiries and requests to make the shoe available in stock, we decided to debut our second color as a GMTO.
The Willem Wingtip Derby features an upper in country calf leather from Tanneries du Puy, four eyelet lacing, a wingtip on our round toe last, and an asymmetric pattern with no center-back and a streamlined finish around the entire shoe.
Brogue detailing adorn the wingtip, facings and heel and handmade Orion patina is a handsome black and blue reverse patina.
The durable Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole which is lightweight and comfortable and perfect for the city streets and outdoors and the 360-degree storm welt creates a bolder silhouette and increases the weather protection a few notches.
Our Willem Wingtip Derby is a comfortable option when worn with a suit and they’ll look fantastic worn with denim, khakis and corduroys on the weekend.
Every pair of the Willem Wingtip Derby is Goodyear-welted and meticulously hand finished by our artisan team in Spain before shipment. This process includes the use of glass, sandpaper, inks, creams, waxes, fire and multiple iron tools to deliver a bespoke quality finishing that the Norman Vilalta brand has become known for.
Join our GMTO by Sunday, October 29th to be a part of a select group of shoe aficionados who will enjoy the Willem Wingtip Derby this spring.
What makes the Eduardo Especial so “special” you may ask? If you are familiar with Wholecuts, most designs are made from an oxford pattern since it is easier to create a design with no overlapping pattern pieces, except for the tongue which is sewn below the facings.
To create this rare gem, we carefully engineered an asymmetric pattern that incorporates the overlapping facings of a derby, a feat which is extremely difficult to achieve from a single flat 2D pattern piece.
The seam of the Eduardo Especial is tucked away at the inner heel with the leather pattern extends forward towards elonagated toebox, over the beautifully curved vamp, up across the outer quarter of the shoe, and around the heel.
The pattern of the vamp is cut in a unique triangular curve that create the one eyelet facings that overlaps the vamp.
The beautifully hand-lasted shoe features a sexy double-beveled waist (fiddleback) that is carefully carved by hand, a pitched heel with a tight seat and seamless curve from heel collar to the floor and a gorgeous cognac handmade patina whose subtle differences in shades of color make them even more special.
If you are unfamiliar with the 1202 Heritage Collection, we introduced this rare fully handmade line in 2018 with our friend Hugo Jacomet of The Parisian Gentleman. Our objective was to offer a handmade line of shoes that give our customers the opportunity to experience the fit, beauty, and elegance of a fully handmade shoe, without the time and commitment to full bespoke.
Since then, the collection has become a hand-made product line that offered excellent value to the shoe aficionados who are "in-the-know". Since our shoemakers have a limited capacity outside of handmade shoemaking for our bespoke clients and the hand-finishing for our ready-made line, we kept and still keep this line under-the-radar.
Each handmade pair from this limited collection is hand-lasted, hand-welted and outsole stitched by hand in either our workshop in Barcelona or by our teammate Kenjiro Kawashima who is now based in Seoul, Korea after working with us in Barcelona for 3 years. Kenjiro is the 3rd place winner of the 2022 Shoemaking World Championship.
The Eduardo Especial is not like any average dress shoe. The streamlined silhouette, elongated vamp, slimly carved waist, glove-like fit and elegant design lines will leave a lasting impression.
For this limited launch, we have allocated space for 6 pairs within our bespoke workload. Once we’ve reached this limit we will not accept more orders until our team has additional capacity.
The Eduardo Especial from the 1202 Heritage Collection is now available to order and each fully handmade pair will be delivered to you in approximately 7 to 8 months.
Our first, the Decon Chelsea Boot, needs little introduction as it is our flagship boot.
The Decon Chelsea Boot features an elegantly elongated vamp, streamlined design lines and a soft square chiseled toe. The graceful two eyelet facings create a unique silhouette and delivers a personalized fit.
After a long hiatus in suede, we produced a small batch of this handsome boot in a repello suede from Charles F Stead and a handmade Darjeeling patina, a blend of snuff, milkshake, and dark brown that gives the boot rich depth and highlights the supple texture of the suede.
The sophisticated design will elevate any look from dress pants to khakis to dark denim. It’s no wonder why the unique boot and versatile styling has earned the Decon Chelsea a “grail boot” among shoe aficionados worldwide.
The Borcego Mountain Boot, our second shoe was designed by Norman to be slightly more rugged but with refined design lines that will look elegant regardless of how much of a beating you give them.
The Borcego features a slightly wider soft square chiseled toe that is inspired by vintage ski boots, dual leather tongue covering which will minimizes dust and debris, and 6 metal D-rings and 1 speed hook which enables an easy but secure lacing system.
The ankle stabilizer gives you additional support, a subtle marino fur lining along the heel provides cozy warmth, and the Vibram Gumlite Commando sole delivers cushioning and comfort that will keep you going all-day-long
We selected our Orion handmade patina, a handsome black and blue reverse patina that looks nearly black in low light and blue when under some sun.
The Borcego Boot is ideal for those who are looking for a boot that can balance both worlds of the big city and great outdoors, while still being buttoned up.
Each Goodyear-welted pair of our Decon Chelsea Boots and Borcego Mountain Boots are meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.

]]>After digging into our archives for inspiration, we decided on the perfect dress shoe: Vicente, our Adelaide Full Brogue Oxford that sports a combination of leathers, stunning design lines and a comfortable Vibram Button Sole.
The Vicente Adelaide Oxford features five eyelet lacing, brogue detailing at the cap toe, throat, heel, and swan neck, and our signature asymmetric pattern.
The absence of the center-back seam creates a streamlined silhouette around the entire shoe and a cleaner finish.
Since comfort has become increasingly more important to our clients as office dress codes become more casual, we chose a Vibram Button Sole which delivers cushioning that will keep you going all day long and extra tread to withstand more challenging weather.
The profile of the soft square chisel toe and thickness of the Vibram Button Sole complement each other beautifully.
Like the design of a luxury SUV, the Vicente Adelaide Oxford evokes power and muscle while maintaining a sense of elegance and finesse.
What we love about this shoe is that the make-up incorporates many details but the design components are perfectly balanced.
The combination of the leathers with repello suede adorning the facings creates a unique contrast of texture that look fantastic when paired with everything from wool trousers to khakis to corduroy and denim.
You’ll wear these Goodyear-welted, hand-finished beauties with ease to work and will look forward to putting them on for an enjoyable night out.
The Vicente Adelaide Oxford is now available in our GMTO through Sunday, October 1st.
For those who enjoy the comfort and ease of slipping on loafers throughout the year, for the first time we made a small batch of our Goodyear-welted Manolo Tassel Loafer.
The Manolo Loafer features a meticulously hand-sewn apron, a laced collar with dual tassels, texture of reno calf leather, and a durable, lightweight, and comfortable Vibram Commando Sole.
While the fusion of a tassel loafer design with a bold Vibram sole may appear unconventional, Manolo effortlessly marries these elements. Its versatile appeal as a comfortable and robust dress casual shoe has earned it a cherished place in the hearts of our clientele, proving to be a year-round favorite.
For Manolo's debut as a ready-made shoe, we've selected our Marron Mediterraneo patina – a proprietary blend of rich browns and burgundy, offering an elegant alternative to traditional black and brown. Our signature patina extends to the tassels, which exhibit a slightly lighter shade of brown, a signature detail of Norman's.
Our second shoe is no stranger to those who know us well.
The Derby Simple was one of the very first Goodyear-welted shoes that we offered as a ready-made shoe. The comfort, elegant design and versatile wardrobe appeal has elevated this shoe to one of the most popular models and is often the first shoe that our customers try.
While shoe aficionados have become accustomed to our Derby Simple in a 3D patina, we wanted to do something a bit different this fall and introduce a batch in supple repello suede.
The Derby Simple features a rounded toe box, an elongated vamp with 4 eyelet lacing, our signature asymmetric pattern which removes the need for a center back seam, and a comfortable padded and quilted insole.
Since our Derby Simple is meant to be worn and made-to-last, Norman selected a Vibram Gumlite commando sole, a sole that can survive the city streets, looks good and keeps your feet comfortable all-day-long.
We selected our Midnight Blue handmade patina, a handsome dark to light blue reverse patina. The lighter milkshake suede below peeks out at the toe box, along the facings next to the eyelets and at the heel, each of the areas of the shoe that more commonly reflect light.
The Derby Simple is ideal for those who are looking for a shoe that will stand out tastefully among crowd and can easily be dressed up or down.
Each Goodyear-welted pair of our Manolo Tassel Loafer and Derby Simple Shoe is meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.

The handsome boot features an upper in ante repello suede from Charles Stead, three eyelet lacing, our sleek chiseled toe last, and an elongated toe box and vamp.
When designing the Christopher Chukka Boot, Norman selected an unlined ankle for added comfort, adorned the back of the heel shaft with embroidery, and added a Vibram Rubber Button Sole which resembles a double leather sole but delivers additional grip and cushioning.
The marvelous café and cream handmade patina is a handsome dark brown on the upper vamp, with cream peeking out at the toebox, ankle and heel.
The reverse patina gives the boot a slightly distressed look and adds depth to the already rich suede.

Each pair of our Goodyear-welted boots is meticulously hand-finished before delivery.
Our Christopher Chukka Boot is now available as a group-made-to-order through Sunday, July 30th.
The 540 Degree Wholecut Lazyman is a pattern-making marvel as it is lasted from only one piece of leather with an asymmetric pattern that wraps neatly around the entire shoe 1.5 times, hence the 540 degrees (360 + 180).
The seam starts at the inner heel wraps over the vamp, up around the outer quarter of the shoe, the heel, then back-up over the inner heel piece and finally around the front vamp again, creating the one piece facing.
Hidden away at the outer edge of the facing is a piece of gore which allows you to easily slip on these beauties while on the go.
This masterpiece features a sexy double-beveled waist (fiddleback) that is carefully carved by hand, a pitched heel with a tight seat and a beautiful tan (also available in espresso).
If you are new to our 1202 Heritage Collection, we introduced his unique fully handmade line in 2018 with our friend Hugo Jacomet of The Parisian Gentleman. The goal was to offer a handmade line of shoes that give our customers the opportunity to experience the fit, beauty, and elegance of a fully handmade shoe, without the time and commitment to full bespoke.
Since then, the collection has been under-the-radar and has become a hand-made product line that offered excellent value to those "in-the-know", since our shoemakers have a limited capacity outside of bespoke work and hand-finishing.
The 540 Degree Wholecut Lazyman is a unique alternative to the average dress shoe whose clean profile, slimly carved waist, glove-like fit and elegant design lines clearly stand out among the crowd. Even better, they are amazingly easy to put on.
For this limited launch, we have allotted space among our bespoke workload for 6 orders and once we’ve reached this limit we will not accept more orders until our team has additional capacity.
Our 540 Degree Wholecut Lazyman from the 1202 Heritage Collection is now available to order and each fully handmade pair will be delivered in approximately 7 to 8 months. We will close our list once our 6 pair limit has been reached.
We produced a small batch of our Piet Penny Loafer in a stunning black cherry handmade patina.
Piet features French box calf leather sourced by Tanneries du Puy of Hermes, a curved saddle that wraps across the vamp from welt to welt, subtle embroidery detailing on the heel counter, and a hand stitched apron that sits comfortably on top of the elongated toe box.
The quilted insole is a stunning design detail with padding that delivers comfort, and the Goodyear-welted sole guarantees that you’ll be able to enjoy the Piet Penny Loafer for many years to come.
The Black Cherry handmade patina will enrich your work wardrobe and will be the main attraction when worn casually on the weekends.
For the moc-toe aficionados, we made a new version of our Tete Moc Toe Derby in a dark-and-handsome bister handmade patina.
Tete features a carefully hand-stitched moc toe with a subtle split toe, our signature asymmetric pattern with a streamlined finish and no center back seam, a comfortable padded and embroidered insole, and a leather sole hand painted in purple.
The soft square chiseled toe combined with the texture of the vegano inca and detailing of the apron, deliver a clean design with subtle detailing and character.
Our bister handmade patina is our classic dark brown patina with hints of burgundy. The color looks great with your classic blues and greys, autumn tones, and dark denim.
For those who are searching for an elegant dress shoe and prefer the open lace system of a derby, we made a small batch of our Eduardo Derby in a new handmade forest patina.
Eduardo is the first single eyelet derby that Norman has designed for our Condal Collection, and the most formal version of our derbies.
The Eduardo Derby features an upper in supple box calf leather from Tanneries du Puy, a slim rounded toe box, an exaggerated vamp with an elegantly elongated silhouette, and a leather sole hand painted in purple.
We selected a forest handmade patina, a refreshing green patina that is a great wearable alternative to the normal browns and blacks. They will complement the blues and greys of work attire beautifully and will look sharp with a nice pair of dark denim.
The Piet Penny Loafer, Tete Moc Toe Derby and Eduardo Derby Shoe are available in a small batch online and in our men’s shoe store in Barcelona.
Each Goodyear-welted pair is meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.
We are honored to be featured in the latest issue of International Investor Magazine.
Hop over to the digital version of their magazine online and read the article on pages 34 through 36. You'll have a chance to better understand the history of our brand as well as some hints as to the direction we are going for next year.
]]>While Gaudi is what comes to mind for most visitors to Barcelona, Luis Domenech i Montaner is responsible for many precious art nouveau gems throughout the city.
When visiting Barcelona, see the stained glassed windows within the Casa Lleo Morera on the luxurious Passeig de Gracia and wander the Art Noueveau wonderland of Hospital Sant Pau, two of Domenech's works of art.
You can also enjoy the sites and sounds of concerts at his Palau de La Musica Catalana, and relax in the the five-star Casa Fuster Hotel.
The beauty of Domenech's designs is that they are ornate yet sensible, combining elements of nature with modern and industrial materials.
When designing the Luis Balmoral Derby, Norman kept Domenech's work in mind and challenged himself to combine different elements together to create a bold but well-balanced shoe.
The Luis Balmoral Derby features a cap toe on our soft square chiseled toe last, four eyelet lacing to create a more elongated vamp, and decorative brogues and gimping on the cap toe and balmoral seam.
Norman designed the pattern in a way that the vamp, tongue, lower quarters, and heel counter are one piece of leather which wraps around the shoe with the seam hidden at the inner heel. This pattern requires a larger cut of leather and is harder to produce in large quantities since not as many pieces can be cut from the same leather.
The reno calf upper, which crevices contrast with the lighter tones at the top of each grain, combined with the storm welt gives the entire shoe a wonderful texture and create a slightly bolder silhouette.
The resulting design of Luis matches beautifully with Fall / Winter attire and while elegant, the shoe is rugged enough to take on uncooperative weather.
Each pair of the Luis Balmoral Derby is meticulously hand-finished to perfection before delivery. This artisanal process includes the use of fire, iron tools, sandpapers, waxes, creams and dyes to create a bespoke level finishing for each Goodyear-welted masterpiece.
Our Luis Balmoral Derby is now available in a handmade bister patina as a Group-made-to-order (GMTO) through Sunday, July 2nd.
We caught up on the Super Trunk Show in London, product plans for the year and importantly had a chance to review our fully handmade 1202 Heritage Collection and bespoke samples with him.
We recently re-launched this exclusive line of hand-lasted, hand-welted shoes with an outsole stitched by hand and the quality and finishing of our full bespoke line.
To our surprise, when Justin returned to NYC, he wrote a wonderful review of the 1202 Heritage Collection and shared some great photos:

]]>Our first shoe is our Piet Penny Loafer, an easy to slip on loafer that can be worn comfortably in the office or en-route to the beach.
Piet sports an easy to match classic rounded toe box and a buttery box calf leather sourced by Tanneries du Puy, one of the finest French leather providers that is owned by Hermes.
The curved saddle runs across the entire vamp from welt to welt delivering a sleek design and the embroidery detailing on the heel counter adds a subtle design statement. The apron is the artisanal cherry on-top, as it is carefully hand-stitched by one of our skilled artisans here in Spain.
The comfortable loafer sports a pitched heel which creates harmonious silhouette from the heel collar to the floor, a quilted insole with cushioning, and a Goodyear-welted sole which means that you can enjoy your years for many years to come.
Lastly, the handmade Orion patina is a beautiful black and blue blend that looks nearly black under low light in the office, but blue when under the sun. The patina will complement work attire during the week and look fanstastic with dark denim and khakis on the weekends.
Summertime here in Barcelona also means peak-wedding-season. Our Wholecut is the most dressy shoe of our collection and unlike other wholecuts, we incorporate a unique side lacing design and our signature asymmetrical pattern.
In shoemaking, the construction method of the Wholecut is challenging since the design requires carefully molding one 2D piece of leather onto a 3D silhouette without the help of multiple seam lines which normally create the curves that make it easy to last.
The unique asymmetric pattern of our Wholecut delivers a clean and seamless center front and center back, with the only seam on the entire shoe tucked away neatly at the inner heel.
The elongated, seamless vamp and four eyelet lacing that cuts diagonally across the outside quarter, creates the perfect canvas for our handmade Espresso patina.
The Espresso patina is a great choice for a formal event with majority of the body in a black and dark brown and eye-catching hints of light brown at the toebox, facings, and heel.
Our final shoe is our James Penny Loafer in our alluring brown and cognac patina.
James is defined by a sharp chiseled toe, elongated vamp, an asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, and our hand painted leather sole.
The sawtooth details of gimping accent the apron, penny keeper, tongue, and the counter and our padded and the embroidered insole is a unique design detail that's both beautiful and adds additional comfort.
The handmade patina is a colorful combination that can easily be worn with the casual comforts of summer attire. The rich brown and cognac patina will look handsome with blues and greys of dress attire and will make a statement with dark denim, khakis and white linen.
The Piet Penny Loafer, Wholecut Oxford, and James Penny Loafer are available in a small batch online and in our men’s shoe store in Barcelona.
Each Goodyear-welted pair is meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.
We originally designed this shoe as a GMTO collaboration with our friend Steven Taffel of Leffot NYC in 2021 and since then the elegant design, comfort and versatility of our ready-made version has elevated Coltrane to be one of our hot sellers.
All the previous versions we created were in pebble grain leather, so for this special version we wanted to create one in supple suede.
We selected a mocha suede from Charles Stead and enriched the color and created additional depth by adding a handmade patina along the brogues and seams.
Coltrane features 4 eyelet lacing, brogue detailing along the wingtip and balmoral seam, and an asymmetric pattern with a seam tucked away at the inner heel.
The Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole delivers comfort, durability and a lightweight alternative to the typical leather sole.
The combination of the soft square toe and 360-degree storm welt for weather protection creates a bold, slightly sharp profile.
The Coltrane Wingtip Balmoral Derby is ideal for those who are looking for a shoe that incorporates distinct design details in a humble, subtle fashion.
The shoe will keep your feet comfortable all day long and the design will easily complement everything from dress to casual.
Our Coltrane Wingtip Balmoral Derby is now available as a GMTO is now available through Tuesday, May 30th.
First up is our Eduardo Derby Shoe in a head turning Ribera reverse patina on suede.
Eduardo is the first single eyelet derby that Norman has designed for our Goodyear-welted Condal Collection, and the most formal version of our derbies.
Eduardo features supple suede from Charles Stead, an asymmetric pattern with the seam tucked away at the inner heel, our signature embroidered and padded insole, a pitched heel, and a Goodyear-welted leather sole that is hand painted in purple.
The minimal design is a simplified take on a derby with one eyelet lacing which is not only an attractive accent but also delivers a more secure and comfortable fit.
We selected a beautiful blue and teal handmade ribera patina which is evocative of the nearby beaches of Catlunya. The reverse patina resembles the receding waves along the coastline, or “ribera” in Spanish.
Eduardo will look great with your denim and khakis and will make a bold statement with white linen this summer.
Our second shoe is our James Penny Loafer in a spicy Crianza patina.
James is our signature penny loafer featuring an upper in French box calf leather from Tanneries du Puy, sharp chiseled toe box, and an elongated vamp that creates and elegantly sleek silhouette.
The loafer features an asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, quilted and padded insole, and our hand painted leather sole.
The sawtooth details of gimping accent the apron, penny keeper, tongue, and the counter, adding a subtle design touch.
The Crianza handmade patina is one of our more fiery patinas that is not for the bland.
The loafers will make a tasteful statement with dress attire and will evoke confidence when paired with more casual attire on the weekend.
With a growing demand for tassels over the last year and a half, we produced a small batch of our Gillespie Tassel Loafer, a shoe we originally debuted with our friends at Leffot in NYC.
Gillespie features an elegantly elongated round toebox, an apron carefully hand-stitched by our team of artisans, a textured grain calf upper, a pitched heel, and a leather sole hand painted in purple.
A subtle detail of Gillespie is the woven ankle roping which wraps around the collar and complements the hand-stitched apron beautifully.
Our first version of Gillespie in 2021 featured a bold violet patina. For this version, we selected a handsome Ebony handmade patina, a more reserved option that still maintains the Norman Vilalta flair.
The dark and milky brown patina of Gillespie is easy to dress up and down and you can comfortably slip these loafers on for a day or night on the town.
Our Eduardo Derby Shoe in Ribera, James Penny Loafer in Crianza, and Gillespie Tassel Loafer in Ebony are now available in a small batch online and in our men’s shoe store in Barcelona.
Each Goodyear-welted pair is meticulously hand-finished by our team of artisans in Barcelona before delivery.
Like a classic Chukka, our Goodyear-welted Decon Chukka Boot is ankle high with open lacing and two eyelets. Instead of sewing the quarters on top of the vamp, our vamp and quarters are one generous piece of leather that is carefully lasted around the shoe and meet at the center back.
The tongue is cut in a crescent shape from the vamp which creates a unique silhouette and allows us to combine different leathers and suedes together to provide a textured canvas for our handmade patinas.
The collar is sewn over the tongue to provide the open lacing system of the classic Chukka which allows you to easily put on and take off these comfortable boot.
Traditionally Chukka Boots were made with either thin leather soles or with crepe soles by British troops in the desert during WWII. We offer ours with a Goodyear-welted leather sole in our signature hand-painted purple.
We selected a smart black and wintersmoke patina which will look wonderful with the darker shades of fall and winter.
They make a fine pairing with the greys, charcoals, navys and blacks of dress clothing and look great with dark denim.
The Goodyear-welted Decon Chukka Boot is now available in our Group-made-to-order GMTO through Sunday, April 30th.
Place your order with a 50% deposit using the code GMTODEPOSIT during checkout and/or split payments via Paypal.

The Handmade Federico Balmoral Oxford features 5 eyelet lacing, our signature asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, a sexy double-beveled waist (fiddleback) that is carefully carved by hand, a pitched heel with a tight seat and a subtle handmade espresso reverse patina, with light brown peaking out at the toe box, facings, and heel.
The toe box, vamp, and heel cap are one piece of French box calf leather from Tanneries du Puy and is hand-lasted tightly around the shoe with a seam tucked away neatly in the inner heel. Carefully hand-punched brogues line the balmoral seam, delineating the two leathers.
The pebble grain of country calf from Tanneries du Puy make up the facings and heel collar and is also cut from one piece of leather, delivering a clean finishing around the entire shoe.
The Handmade Federico Balmoral Oxford is a smart alternative to the average dress shoe whose sleek profile, slimly carved waist, glove-like fit and elegant design lines will clearly stand out among the crowd.
Our Handmade Federico Balmoral Oxford from the 1202 Heritage Collection is now available to order and each fully handmade pair will be delivered in approximately 7 to 8 months. We will close our list once our 6 pair limit has been reached.
