Article: Que Calor

Que Calor

With the recent heat waves this summer, we made three new shoes for our latest Group-made-to-order (GMTO) that will give you something nice to look forward to this winter.

Our first is our Boulevardier Boot in onyx vegano inca and suede.

The Boulevardier is the perfect example of why we enjoy working with our clients on MTO shoes.

In April of 2019, we posted a photo of our client Mr. Prieto´s wonderful MTO boot and it immediately received a wave of likes, comments, direct messages, and requests.

Due to the popularity, and with Mr. Prieto´s permission, we produced a small batch in our sold out A Boot for the Boulevardier launch early last year.

The Boulevardier features a rich combination of vegano inca from Tanneries du Annonay and suede from Charles Stead, 2 eyelet lacing, and a Vibram Commando Sole which will keep your feet comfortable after a leisurely walk through the city.

To balance the bolder design combination, we selected onyx vegano inca and suede. The result is a stylish black boot with personality.
Our second GMTO is an important shoe in our brand history. The Balmoral Origin was one of the first designs that Norman created for his bespoke offering while he was still living in Italy.

The shoe is one of the first to include our signature asymmetric pattern and the original sample is still used as a bespoke reference in our workshop.

The Balmoral Origin features French box calf leather from Tanneries du Puy, five eyelet lacing, our asymmetric pattern which creates a streamlined finished around the entire shoe, and a leather sole hand painted in purple.

We created a ciruela handmade patina which is a deep purple to dark violet reverse patina. The color will complement grey, navy, and dark color suiting and really pop with dark denim.

Our final shoe is our Balmoral Simple in a combination of chocolate vegano inca and suede.
The Balmoral Simple has been the go-to casual oxford for clients looking for a shoe that can be dressed up or down while still being comfortable.

The design is one of the first of Norman’s shoes to feature a commando sole, a detail that many brands have jumped onto recently as our friend Justin Fitzpatrick of the The Shoe Snob wrote about in his recent editorial.

The chiseled toe and streamlined asymmetric design lines combined with the Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole create a unique silhouette which is bold, elegant, and well balanced. The suede collar adds a distinct touch that compliments the texture of the vegano inca beautifully.

Our Boulevardier Boot, Balmoral Origin Oxford, and Balmoral Simple are now available in our Que Calor GMTO through the end-of-day Tuesday, August 31st.

All shoes are bench made, Goodyear-welted, and hand finished by our artisan team in Spain before shipment. This process includes the use of glass, sandpaper, inks, creams, waxes, fire and multiple iron tools to achieve a bespoke quality finishing that the Norman Vilalta brand has become known for.

If you would like to place your order with a 50% deposit, please use the code GMTODEPOSIT during checkout. The balance will be collected before the final shipment of your shoes.

Changes to the upper, lining, last, width, sole, and patina of the shoes are available with a 200 euro change fee. Please email sales@normanvilalta.com for any questions or change requests. Bespoke or fully handmade versions are available as well.
