A Summer Break

We're offering a Summer Break waiver on our 300 euro made-to-order (MTO) fee for the month of August. This includes all made-to-order shoes and boots offered on our website and client favorites such as our Wingtip Full Brogue in black and brown (above) and Adelaide Full Brogue in Marron Mediterraneo (below). This also includes any custom change request of sole, leather, and patina to any of our ready-to-wear styles. For example, if you'd like either our Decon Chelsea Boot made with a Vibram Button Sole or our Derby Simple Shoe in a different color, we can produce this without an MTO fee as well. Please email sales@normanvilalta.com for a custom change request. Lastly, going forward we will accept a 50% deposit to place an order...

Autumn Leaves & Lines

We've carefully selected a new batch of Autumn-ready group-made-to-order models. We often discuss construction methods, materials, and patinas, but this time around we wanted to highlight the beauty of lines. Our first model is our Chukka Boot, a classic style with simple lines that make a difference. The slightly bowed shape of our facings combined with the carefully placed double eyelets create an elongated vamp. This gives the boot an elegant and streamlined silhouette, while the chiseled toe box balances out the design with a bit of an edge. A single line of thicker stitching runs parallel to the collar which accents the harmony of the ankle line curve and heel. This is the same subtle contour that inspired the suede collar of...

Pause - Feel - Enjoy

Less than a 2 hour drive up the coast from Barcelona there is the perfect place to pause – feel - enjoy. A place that was a secret kept by  few artists, poets, architects and writers who fell in love with the beauty of its rocky coasts, fresh Mediterranean air, and the vivid colors of its light and landscape: the Costa Brava. It is difficult to think of another place where you could have played a game of chess with Marcel Duchamp, crossed paths with Salvador Dalí on a walk by the sea or enjoyed a caña (beer) with Picasso in one of the fishing villages. With hidden coves, hard to reach beaches, crystal clear water and fresh as can...

The Beauty of Color & Patina

We’re starting off the month of May with three new shoes and a focus on color and patina. We produced a small batch of our penny loafer in a new patina that is in stock and available for purchase and created attractive new colorways for two of our classic styles for a new group-made-to-order (GMTO). With the arrival of warmer weather and after weeks in quarantine, the comfort of our Penny Loafer is appropriate for a renewed sense of freedom. For this shoe, we wanted to produce a patina that is light, fresh and a bit more fun. We created this handmade patina in rosemary, an herb with distinct shades of green and common in the cuisine of the Mediterranean. The organic patina transitions from...

A Summer Statement

With winter coming to an end, we decided to be bold with this group-made-to-order. We designed three styles that make a summer statement and celebrate the incoming heat. Our first shoe is our Spectator Full Oxford, also known as our “Gladiator” for the brogue detailing on the vamp. They are also known as the “co-respondent” shoe, but we’ll let you google why. :-) The Spectator Full was the first shoe that Norman designed back in 2001. With two tone leather and brogues, Norman was the first bespoke shoemaker to face the challenge of adding a patina to a shoe with such an intricate design. The patina is carefully hand painted and finished by hand, being extremely careful with the brogues. We chose...
