Article: Warming Up

Warming Up

As we warm up to the new year and get closer to Spring, we produced three new shoes that work well in the transitional periods.

Our first featured shoe is our Bernat Brogue Derby in a handmade Orion patina.

Bernat features the wonderful pebble grain texture of country calf from Tanneries du Puy, 4 eyelet lacing, our signature asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, a quilted and padded insole, and the comfort of a Vibram button sole.

We selected our Orion patina, our unique patina that looks nearly black in low light and blue once under the sun.

Bernat looks great with dark denim, corduroys, and khakis or dressed up with a suit.

Our Coltrane Wingtip Derby in our handsome espresso patina is our second shoe of the month.

Coltrane features an upper in French Vegano Inca from Tanneries du Annonay, 4 eyelet lacing, brogue detailing along the wingtip and balmoral seam, and an asymmetric pattern with a seam tucked away at the inner heel.

Coltrane sits on a comfortable, durable, and lightweight Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole which is perfect for the modern-day workplace with comfort in mind. The additoona of a storm welt creates a bolder profile and protects the shoe in all weather conditions.

We selected our Espresso patina, a rich blend of dark brown to milky brown. The patina is similar to our Rocher Patina, but with less of a strong contrast at the toe box, and brown instead of the more golden color of Rocher.

The result is a beautifully designed shoe that is both elegant and comfortable and will compliment both work and casual clothing.

The last of our featured shoes this month is a beautiful new color in our Wholecut Oxford, a dress shoe made from one piece of leather and designed using our asymmetrical pattern making method.

The leather upper is carefully lasted around the elongated vamp and chiseled toe with four eyelet lacing that cuts diagonally across the outside quarter. This unique design creates a clean and seamless center front and center back, and the only seam on the entire shoe is tucked away neatly at the inner heel.

We created a new handmade Penedes patina for this batch, a custom blend of dark burgundy to vivid burgundy at the tip. The name is derived by the up and coming wine region just south of Barcelona.

The color compliments the blues and greys of classic suiting and will create a unique contrast when worn with dark denim on the weekends.

Our Bernat Brogue Derby, Coltrane Wingtip Derby and Wholecut Oxford is now available in a small batch online and in our men’s shoe store in Barcelona. Each pair is meticulously hand-finished before delivery.
