Article: Leffot Part Deux

Leffot Part Deux

We've teamed up with Steven Taffel of Leffot, the pioneer luxury footwear boutique in New York City, to create a new selection of shoes for our second Group-made-to-order (GMTO) together.

We worked with Steven to create a gorgeous new boot and selected elegant new colors for a couple of future classics of the Norman Vilalta brand.

Our first shoe is the debut of our brand-new Haring Boot, a boot that is elegant, sharp, and with an edge -- characteristics that we imagine when we think "New York cool".

Haring is a six eyelet moc-toe derby boot featuring a carefully handstitched apron, facings adorned with simplified punching, a comfortable unlined ankle shaft, and a lightweight, durable, Vibram Gumlite Commando Sole.

For the first time we sourced grain calf from Weinheimer of Germany, a leather we chose because of it’s distinct grains and slightly more rigid feel. We added a dark caramel handmade patina which compliments the richness of the grain calf beautifully.

The combination of the sleek silhouette, firm body of the leather and sole, unique design details, and patina deliver a boot that is bold, masculine, confident and handsome.

Our second shoe is a new patina in our Tete Moc Toe Derby

Tete features a carefully hand stitched moc toe with a subtle split toe, our signature asymmetric pattern with a streamlined finish and no center back seam, a comfortable padded and embroidered insole, and a leather sole hand painted in purple.

What is distinct about this moc toe is the perfect blend of shapes and proportions -- the chiseled toe, soft square apron, angled facings, and swooping swan neck top stitching.

The hand stitched apron combined with the vegano inca upper and a handmade glaceage creates a texture and finishing that is sophisticated and elegant.

We selected our midnight blue patina, a dark blue and black handmade patina. As a darker version of our Orion patina, midnight blue is perfect for those who want to experiment with color but need to stay on the safer side.

Our final shoe is our Madoz Medallion Oxford, a slightly bolder oxford with tasteful embellishments that add character.

Madoz features our Barcino Medallion, classic brogues along the toe cap, simplified punching along the swan neck seam and heel collar, and a leather sole hand painted in purple.

We selected our Marron Mediterraneo patina, a rich blend of brown and burgundy that will liven up a classic suit at work and attract attention at brunch on the weekends.

Every pair of shoes are bench made, Goodyear-welted, and hand finished by our artisan team in Spain before shipment. This process includes the use of glass, sandpaper, inks, creams, waxes, fire and multiple iron tools to achieve a bespoke quality finishing that the Norman Vilalta brand has become known for.

Our Haring Moc Toe DerbyBoot, Tete Moc Toe Derby and Madoz Medallion Oxford are available now through Sunday, October 3rd at both Norman Vilalta in Barcelona and Leffot in New York City.

All online GMTO orders on our website are made with a 50% deposit. The balance and shipping will be collected shortly before your shoes are ready for delivery.

Changes to the upper or lining material, last shape, width, sole, and patina of the shoes are available with a 200 euro change fee. Please email sales@normanvilalta.com for any questions or change requests. Bespoke or fully handmade versions are available as well.
