The Handmade Wholecut
2023 was a wonderful year for the Norman Vilalta team in many ways, but one of the most important milestones of the year was the official launch our 1202 Heritage Collection.
For those who are new to the 1202 Heritage Collection, this line our semi-bespoke collection of shoes that give our customers the opportunity to experience the fit, beauty, and elegance of a fully handmade shoe, without the need to go full bespoke.
Each shoe is hand-lasted, hand-welted and outsole stitched by hand in either our workshop in Barcelona or by our teammate Kenjiro Kawashima who is now based in Seoul, Korea after working in our Barcelona atelier for 3 years. Ken is the 3rd place winner of the 2022 Shoemaking World Championship.
After a soft-launch in 2018, with Hugo Jacomet of The Parisian Gentleman, we kept this exclusive line below the radar since we only offered these shoes when our bespoke makers had capacity.
In 2024, we are keeping our fully handmade momentum going with new models and new creative patternmaking, and we are pleased to announce our first launch of the year, our fully handmade Wholecut Oxford in an absolutely gorgeous handmade Orion patina.
The tightly hand-sculpted Wholecut features an upper in supple French box calf leather from Tanneries du Puy, a unique four eyelet lacing which cuts diagonally across the vamp, and our signature asymmetric pattern with no center back seam.
The sexy, slender double-beveled waist is carefully carved by hand, the pitched heel and extremely tight seat deliver a flawless heel silhouette, and the orion patina is perfect for those who want to play with patina but still stay somewhat conservative.
We selected our Wholecut Oxford because it's unlike any other wholecut in the market, it was the best seller of Norman's original bespoke workshop and importantly we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of this special design. Year after year our customers request this shoe for it’s unique pattern and design details, wonderful shape and the ability to be worn dressed up or down as a statement shoe with taste.
For this limited online launch, we have allotted space in our handmade queue for 10 orders. Once we’ve reached this threshold we will not accept more orders until we have additional capacity.
Our fully Handmade Wholecut Oxford is now available to order and each pair will be delivered in approximately 9 to 10 months.
