Article: Clean and Simple

Clean and Simple

One of the beauties of our group-made-to-order program is the ability to test new designs, patinas, and concepts and get customer feedback to better understand what our clients are craving. This not only helps us to be more efficient and sustainable with production, but importantly it allows us to make more small batches of the shoes that you love and won’t have to wait for.

Earlier this year we introduced Eduardo, our clean-lined, one eyelet derby which became an instant hit in our Adios Invierno GMTO. Customers were delighted by the overall simplicity of the shoe with it’s elongated vamp, rounded toe, and elegant design lines. As a result of such positive feedback, we produced a limited batch of Eduardo in two new patinas for the summer.

Eduardo features French box calf leather from Tanneries du Puy, an asymmetric pattern with the seam tucked away at the inner heel, our signature embroidered and padded insole, a pitched heel, and a Goodyear-welted leather sole that is hand painted in purple.

The design is as clean and simple as one can get for a derby with the one eyelet facing serving as not only an attractive design accent but also delivering a secure and comfortable fit.

We selected a handmade medium brown patina to complement the summer palette as well as a chocolate brown for those who prefer something a bit more serious.

Every pair of our Eduardo Derbies are bench made, Goodyear-welted, and hand finished by our artisan team in Barcelona, Spain. This process includes the use of glass, sandpaper, inks, creams, waxes, fire and multiple iron tools to achieve a bespoke quality finishing that the Norman Vilalta brand has become known for.

The Eduardo Derby in medium brown and Eduardo Derby in coffee brown are available now in a small batch online and in our Barcelona boutique.
