A Reason to Dress Up
With the “new normal” of the world defined by working from home, quarantines, and zoom calls, why not look your best when you can go out? For December, we’ve made a small batch of three of our iconic shoes in onyx that are perfect for a night out on the town, a dinner date, or even a catch up over coffee with your friends. We've included a handmade beveled waist on all three shoes and in the holiday spirit, we are waiving the customization fee through the end of December.
As we mentioned last month, since our beveled waist is carved by hand, we can achieve the highly sought after shape of the waist that shoe aficionados appreciate. This includes a welt that is flat on top with a sharp and angled vertical edge that curves under the bottom of the welt until it disappears below the sole. At the forepart of the heel, the half-moon shape of the welt abruptly meets the squared reinforcement of the heel block, with a seamless transition of the waist to the metatarsals, resulting in a distinct shape that only a skilled handmade artisan can achieve.
Our first shoe is our Adelaide Full Brogue Oxford in a combination of box calf leather and vegano inca. The shoe features an asymmetric pattern with no center back seam, a thinly carved waist, a quilted and padded insole, and a hand painted leather sole.
The most distinct design feature of our Adelaide is the graceful swan seam that compliments the natural shape of the foot and delineates the facings and quarters with brogue accents. We selected inca leather around the lacings which adds a tactile element and is a nice touch both literally and aesthetically.
Our second shoe is our Mario Oxford in box calf leather. Mario is our classic Cap Toe Oxford and the standard shoe appropriate for any formal occasion or work related event.
Mario is defined by five eyelets and swan stitch detailing along the facings, a thinly carved waist, an asymmetric pattern, an elongated vamp, and classic brogue accents along the cap.
We chose a handmade onyx and grey patina to give the shoe a slightly antique look and add depth to the formal color.
The chiseled toe gives the boot a sharp, masculine edge and the two eyelet facings add a unique design touch that give the boot a cleaner profile and enable a customized fit.
With a handmade beveled waist, the fitted and slim silhouette of our Decon Chelsea Boot will have your colleagues question whether or not they are bespoke.
All shoes are bench made, Goodyear-welted, and hand finished by our artisan team in Barcelona, Spain. This process includes the use of glass, sandpaper, inks, creams, waxes, fire and multiple iron tools to achieve a bespoke quality finishing that takes nearly three hours of hand work per pair to finish.
Our Adelaide Full Brogue, Mario Cap Toe Oxford, and Decon Chelsea Boot are now available in a small batch online and in our atelier in Barcelona, Spain. Orders placed in December for any of the three new shoes qualify for complimentary shoe trees using the code “ARTISANWORK” during check out. Shoe trees must be added to the cart before placing your order.
We will do our best to deliver all orders that are placed for ready-made shoes before December 16th by Christmas time. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas for any ready-made orders with customizations (rubber encrusting, metal tips, etc).
