A Different Interpretation of the Moc Toe
Most moc toe shoes are built around ruggedness. Thick soles, bulky uppers, and workwear proportions have long defined the category.
With the Tete, Norman approached the silhouette differently.
Rather than exaggerating the visual weight of the shoe, he focused on creating a cleaner and more versatile interpretation. The apron was refined, the lines streamlined, and the proportions adjusted to create a silhouette capable of moving naturally between casual and more tailored wardrobes.
The result preserves the relaxed character that makes moc toe shoes so appealing while introducing a level of refinement rarely associated with the style.

The Moc Toe Apron
The apron of the Tete was carefully designed to feel structured but more elegant than traditional moc toe shoes. The stitching frames the shape of the shoe without overpowering it, creating definition while maintaining a clean silhouette.

Streamlined Proportions
Every line of the Tete was adjusted to reduce unnecessary visual bulk. The pattern follows a more elongated and refined profile, allowing the shoe to pair naturally with tailoring while remaining relaxed enough for everyday wear.

Designed for Versatility
The Tete was designed to move comfortably between different settings and wardrobes. Equally natural with denim, soft tailoring, or relaxed trousers, it reflects Norman’s belief that elegant footwear should adapt easily to modern life.

Traditional Construction, Refined by Hand
The Tete Moc Toe Derby is crafted using traditional Goodyear-welted construction, allowing the shoe to be resoled over time while providing long-term structure and durability.
Each pair is hand-finished in Barcelona using carefully selected leathers sourced from some of Europe’s most respected tanneries, including French box calf from Tanneries du Puy and repello suede from Charles F. Stead.
While rooted in traditional shoemaking, the goal of the Tete has always been to create a shoe that feels natural within contemporary wardrobes and everyday life.
DESIGNED TO LIVE BETWEEN WORLDS
Norman has always believed that elegant footwear should feel natural within real life rather than reserved only for formal occasions.
The Tete reflects this philosophy through a silhouette capable of adapting easily across different styles and environments.

With Denim
The relaxed proportions of the Tete pair naturally with denim and more casual textures without appearing overly rugged.

With Tailoring
The refined silhouette allows the shoe to integrate comfortably with soft tailoring and unstructured jackets.

Everyday Versatility
Designed for movement, comfort, and flexibility, the Tete transitions easily between work, travel, and everyday wear.

The Norman Vilalta Approach
Every Norman Vilalta design begins with the same question: how can a familiar silhouette be reimagined through craftsmanship, proportion, and detail?
Rather than following trends or reproducing historical models exactly as they existed before, Norman approaches shoemaking as a process of refinement and reinterpretation.

The Tete Moc Toe Derby reflects this philosophy through its balance of structure, versatility, and understated elegance.
Each pair is shaped, finished, and prepared in the Barcelona workshop by a small team dedicated to preserving the traditions of artisanal shoemaking while continuing to push the language of classic footwear forward.
