A Guide to Choosing Your First Pair of Norman Vilalta Shoes

Where to begin

During my ten years fitting bespoke clients in Barcelona, I learned that a shoe’s last—the wooden form that shapes every pair—must do most of the hard work.

That insight led me to engineer a family of lasts that fit many feet comfortably from the first try on.

Below is the path I recommend you follow through my collections, from quick ship readymade shoes to the full bespoke experience.

Your best first step

1. Condal Collection

If you are discovering my work, start here.

Each pair is Goodyear welted on our readymade lasts, machine lasted in Spain, then hand finished by my team in my Barcelona atelier after your order is made.

Because they’re already on the shelf awaiting your order, they ship in about 2–3 weeks after my team hand-finishes your pair.

Slip them on, and you’ll feel the same anatomical philosophy I apply to bespoke.

2. 1202 Heritage Collection

For seasoned enthusiasts who value hand sewn construction but don’t need trial shoes, I interpret house classics—Derby Simple, Decon Chelsea, and more—using the very same techniques as bespoke: hand-lasting, hand-welting, hand sewn outsoles, meticulous finishing.

Because every stitch is done with an awl and bristle, lead time stretches to 7–10 months, depending on complexity.

3. Bespoke

When only a unique last, exclusive design, and museum grade execution will do—or when nothing else fits—Bespoke awaits.

We measure in person, carve test lasts, and build two pairs of trial shoes before crafting the final masterpiece.

The process is intimate, iterative, and, yes, slow: 12–18 months.

Each step exists so the finished shoes fit and age like nothing you have worn before.
