The Beauty of Color & Patina
We’re starting off the month of May with three new shoes and a focus on color and patina. We produced a small batch of our penny loafer in a new patina that is in stock and available for purchase and created attractive new colorways for two of our classic styles for a new group-made-to-order (GMTO).
With the arrival of warmer weather and after weeks in quarantine, the comfort of our Penny Loafer is appropriate for a renewed sense of freedom. For this shoe, we wanted to produce a patina that is light, fresh and a bit more fun.
We created this handmade patina in rosemary, an herb with distinct shades of green and common in the cuisine of the Mediterranean. The organic patina transitions from darker greens in the body to lighter greens in the tip and heel, evoking a clean and natural look and feel.
Next, we designed our Balmoral Oxford in a marvelous mahogany handmade patina as one of our group-made-to-order (GMTO) offerings. This patina has a subtle transition to honeycomb at the tip, which adds a sophisticated touch and looks incredible with the glacage.
The rich mahogany color compliments the chiseled toe last and clean curves of the quarters of our balmoral oxford to create a sharp and elegant profile.
Finally, with the positive feedback we received from clients on the design and comfort of our U-Tip Derby, we created a new version in a charming bordeaux grain calf leather for our second group-made-to-order (GMTO) offering.
The hand stitched apron combined with the texture of the grain calf and depth of color, result in a handsome shoe that will create envy on “Moc Toe Mondays”. Top it off on the Vibram Commando sole, and you'll have the most comfortable feet in the building.
Every shoe is benchmade and Goodyear-welted in Spain and are carefully hand patinated and hand finished in our atelier by our team of artisans. This includes use of glass, sanding, hand irons, heat, waxes, paints and dyes to achieve a bespoke level finish for every pair.
Our Penny Loafer in rosemary handmade patina is in stock, with only one pair available in some sizes. Our Balmoral Oxford and U-Tip Derby are available as a Group-Made-to-Order (GMTO) through the end-of-day Tuesday, May 19th PST.
