Powerful Patinas
We produced a small batch of three summer ready, goodyear-welted shoes in powerful patinas.
Our first is our Decon Chelsea Shoe in a new handmade Rodin patina. This Derby has the utility of a lazy-man shoe, but the stability of a lace up.
The side gore permits you to easily slip them on and is discreetly hidden by the leather paneling. The two eyelet facings add stability and customized comfort for a more snug fit, but don't interfere with the elegant vamp and the chiseled toe box.
The patina is inspired by Norman’s admiration for Rodin, a craftsman and master of the art of sculpture. The yellows represent the golden bronze used in original sculpture work and the greens represent the graceful oxidization and natural patina of metal over time.
With the rising heat and the popularity of our Penny Loafer in our Rosemary Patina, we thought it would be appropriate to create another “picante” patina, as Norman would say. The goal here was to develop a patina that is shamelessly bold and loud but still absolutely beautiful. Essentially a Penny Loafer that is neither normal vanilla-brand nor boring.
Inspired by the rising sun in the east, our Levante patina is a warm mix of reds, oranges, yellows and browns. They are one of the more powerful patinas we’ve produced in a while and are guaranteed to be your statement shoes for the summer.
Our Adelaide Full Brogue features the distinguishing lines and details described in our Autumn Leaves and Lines GMTO, but this pair adds an additional ingredient -- texture. The Inca leather around the lacings adds a tactile element that is a nice touch both literally and aesthetically, and a subtle detail that those who appreciate the mixing of leathers on their shoes will enjoy.
We chose a black and bordeaux patina for these Adelaides, which evokes a rich Port wine and is slightly less bold but still beautiful. In low light, they appear nearly black, but with a bit of sun the rich bordeaux shines through.
Our Decon Chelsea Shoe, Penny Loafer, and Adelaide Full Brogue are available now. Each pair will be professionally hand finished and polished before delivery. This process includes the use of glass, sandpaper, heat, irons, inks and waxes that result in a finishing that can only be expected from bespoke shoemakers.
