Frequently Asked Questions
Sizing
Our shoes are sized in standard UK sizing. Please see our size and fit guide to see a size comparison chart for US and EU customers to help confirm your size.
Absolutely. If you know your size in any of the other luxury footwear brands, please visit our size and last comparison page.
With help of many of our dedicated customers, we put together sizing references that will help you determine your size in our shoes.
Absolutely. If you email sales@normanvilalta.com, we would be happy to help you with additional sizing guidance.
In your email please let us know more about your feet such as thin/medium/wide ankles, low/medium/high instep, and thin/medium/wide foot.
Also, please include which size and last (if you know this) you usually wear in other shoe brands.
You can also include the size and last in other brands that don't fit you well so that we have a better understanding of your foot shape.
If you prefer, we can also schedule a phone or video call with you.
Fitting shoes allow you to try on and compare two shoes from the comfort of your home or office.
For example, if you are in-between a size 9.5 and 10, and your right foot is slightly larger than your left, we can send you two right side shoes, one in a 9.5 and the other in a size 10.
Since made-to-order shoes shoes are not returnable or exchangeable, we highly recommend fitting shoes ahead of time to make sure you order your proper size.
Readymade shoes are returnable within 14 days (as long as there is no visible wear marks to the upper or soles), BUT please remember that any customs fees and import taxes are usually non-refundable from your home country.
Since fitting shoes are paid with a deposit and the loaner shoes will be returned, we can declare an amount on the shipping invoice that won't usually incur customs fees and import taxes.
SHIPPING
Yes, a large portion of our customers are based outside of Spain and we ship all over the world.
Shipping costs will apply, and will be added at checkout.
On occasion we offer complementary shipping. Please be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated.
Since we rely on DHL's dynamic shipping pricing, please walk through the order process to receive an accurate quote on the shipping to your country for the shoes that you are interested in.
Please note that the customer is responsible for any customs fees and Import taxes.
We know that some countries have high fees, BUT for customers who do not live in the European Union (EU), we do not charge the 21% Tax that we charge for customers who reside here in the EU.
We are sorry, but declaring a lower value on any order placed is illegal. Spain has very strict invoicing, accounting, export and compliance practices that we must abide by.
Please do not email us with any request to change the price on our invoices.
DELIVERY TIMING
Please note that all orders for Readymade shoes will be hand-finished before delivery, therefore shoes are usually shipped in 2 to 3 weeks.
Made-to-order and Group-made-to-order shoes usually take around 7 to 8 months to deliver.
Our fully handmade 1202 Heritage Collection shoes takes around 8 months to a year depending on the model.
Lastly, our Bespoke shoes take approximately 1 to 1.5 years. This process includes two fitting sessions and two sets of handmade trial shoes before delivering the final pair.
We´re sorry if the ready made label is slightly confusing. Our ready made shoes are each hand-finished after an order is placed.
We start the hand finishing process after an order is placed because often times customers ask for custom requests to the patina or finishing of the soles, so this gives us some flexibility for customization before delivery.
Every pair also includes a handmade glaseage, which is a mirror shine finishing composed of wax and water. We add this before delivery since having a glaseage sit for too long on a shoe before usage, could crack the glaseage upon first wear.
7 to 8 months is the general turnaround time for our MTO shoes but we do everything we can to ship shoes faster. We deliver to customers on a first come, first serve basis.
We will not accept any additional payments or offers to prioritize a new order over an existing one.
If you're curious about production times of shoe making, our good friend Justin Fitzpatrick of The Shoe Snob wrote a nice little piece here.
PRODUCT OFFERING
A large portion of our bepoke customers live outside of Spain.
In order for us to proceed with fitting sessions of the trial shoes, we can either meet here in Barcelona or at trunk shows that we organize outside of Spain.
Please note that we can organize virtual fitting sessions as well.
Absolutely. We can produce a custom group-made-to-order (GMTO) for any customer who has at least 3 people who have expressed interest in the proposed model and are ready to place an order. The 300 euro MTO fee will be waived for each pair.
Please email sales@normanvilalta.com to help organize the custom GMTO with you.
Our group-made-to-order program is designed to test new styles and color combinations with our customers. This helps us to better understand which new shoes resonate well with our customers to plan for stock and also gives our customers a unique opportunity to purchase our products at a lower price point.
Our Decon Chelsea Boot is an established classic of ours that will not be included in any promotion or group-made-to-order.
Please note that we do not discount our Decon Chelsea Boot at any time during the year as well.
Payment
We haven't localized our website to display our prices in different currencies, but we accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and these credit cards will apply the exchange rate for you.
You can easily check on Google to see what the current exchange rate is from Euro to your home currency.
Since we accept Paypal, customers can opt to spit payments into 3 to 4 installments which makes it easier for some customers.
For MTO and GMTO shoes, we accept orders with a 50% deposit and the balance is collected right before shipping the finished shoes.
Since the deposit and balance payment of our MTO and GMTO shoes can be split into 3 to 4 payments each via Paypal, essentially you can finance the shoes over 6 to 8 payments in total.
Yes, we would be happy to reserve a pair of shoes for you if you place a deposit.
Please email sales@normanvilalta.com to set this up for you.
MAINTENANCE
With help from our friend Christian Vingsand of C.G. Vingsand Shoeshine Trondheim, we put together a guide with some video clips to help our customers maintain the 3D Patina of their shoes. We hope you find this guide helpful.
Feel free to contact us at sales@normanvilalta.com if you have any questions.
Absolutely. Please email sales@normanvilalta.com for information on the process and turnaround for having a pair of your shoes resoled.
