From One Piece to Perfection

I couldn’t be more excited to share with you our latest version of our Wholecut Oxford—this time in suede.

I’ve always loved this style because it’s such an unmistakable hallmark of our brand: a single piece of leather that’s gracefully lasted into a formal silhouette, with the only seam hidden neatly at the inner heel.

It’s a design approach we’ve explored in French box calf leather (in numerous colors), and each time it seems to resonate deeply with anyone looking for a classic, dressier shoe.

So, why suede now? Well, I wanted to bring a richer, almost velvet-like texture to a shoe that’s already widely recognized as a go-to for formal occasions.

To achieve this, I opted for a midnight blue handmade patina—one that, under different lighting, shows off an exquisite depth of color.

The result, I think, is something that feels both sleek and unique, especially when paired with the clean lines of our signature Wholecut shape.

What really sets this shoe apart (and one of my favorite details) is the diagonal lacing.

Rather than the traditional, center-aligned lacing you often see on formal shoes, we cut the 4-eyelet lacing across the outer vamp.

Then, between the second and third eyelet, it criss-crosses in a way that adds even more character.

I’ve found it’s these nuanced touches—the diagonal lacing, the single-piece upper—that truly elevate the experience of wearing a Wholecut Oxford.

As with our previous box calf versions, we undertook a meticulous process to achieve that midnight blue patina.

Every brushstroke and layer of dye was applied by hand to ensure the color transitions softly across the suede, highlighting the shape without compromising the shoe’s signature elegance.

And that seamless, one-piece construction? It’s always been a testament to our commitment to craftsmanship. We’ve just taken it in a slightly different direction this time, one that suits the suede’s tactile qualities and our customers’ desire for something both classic and distinct.
