One of our most recognizable designs, stripped back to its essentials.
For Atelier Series No. 4, we turn to a lighter palette for the first time.
The Joseph Double Monk is presented in Miel, a warm honey-brown finish designed to bring contrast to the deeper colors of autumn and winter, while moving naturally into the whites, khakis and lighter tones of spring and summer.
Finished by hand in Barcelona and grounded by a Vibram Gumlite Commando sole, Joseph Miel is an unusually versatile interpretation of one of our distinctive designs.
Designed for Contrast
There is a natural tendency to reach for darker shoes as autumn approaches. For this Atelier Series, we wanted to go in the opposite direction.
Miel brings warmth and contrast to navy, charcoal, olive, denim and the richer textures of the colder months.
When the seasons change, its character changes with them. Against white, cream, khaki and lighter tailoring, the same color feels entirely at home.
One shoe, without a prescribed season.
The Miel Patina
Miel takes its name from the warm, honeyed character of the finish.
Beginning with a lighter base allows us to build the color gradually by hand in our Barcelona workshop, moving between golden tones, warm brown and deeper shading across the shoe.
The intention is not perfect uniformity. Subtle variations in tone give each pair its depth and ensure that no two finishes will be exactly alike.
Designed in Asymmetry
The Joseph is defined at first glance by its double buckle closure. Look more closely and another detail begins to emerge.
Rather than mirroring one side of the shoe against the other, its pattern travels asymmetrically around the foot, creating different lines depending on the angle from which it is viewed.
It is a recurring signature of Norman Vilalta — a detail intended to reveal itself gradually rather than announce itself immediately.
Made to Be Worn
Beneath the Joseph is a Vibram Gumlite Commando sole, chosen for its combination of lightness, cushioning and grip.
Its more substantial profile also changes the character of the double monk, relaxing some of its traditional formality and making Joseph Miel particularly easy to wear across different settings and seasons.
FROM ONE SEASON TO THE NEXT
Joseph Miel was conceived without a single season in mind.
With darker tailoring, flannel or denim, its lighter color provides contrast. With khaki, cream, linen and softer summer tones, it becomes part of a lighter palette.
The double monk sits comfortably between the two: distinctive enough to carry a look, but versatile enough to wear often.

Atelier Series is our opportunity to explore particular combinations of model, color and construction outside our permanent collection.
Joseph in Miel will be available exclusively from September 16 through September 30, 2026.
Each pair will be made to order and individually finished by hand in our Barcelona workshop.
