Introducing the Atelier Series

A New Way to Reserve Your Next Pair

For many years, our clients have asked us to revisit some of our most popular designs, patinas, and limited releases.

The challenge is that our workshop was never built around large production runs. We have always preferred to work in smaller quantities, allowing us to dedicate more attention to the details that define our shoes.

To bridge this gap, we have created the Atelier Series.

Each month, we will open a dedicated reservation window for a single design selected from our collection. Once the reservation period closes, production begins exclusively for those who secured a pair during the window.

The first release is one of our most recognizable designs: the Gaspar U-Tip Derby in our Orion handmade patina.

Why We Chose the Gaspar

Since its introduction, the Gaspar has become one of the defining models of the Condal Collection.

At first glance, it appears understated. Look closer, however, and the details begin to emerge.

The hand-stitched apron creates a distinctive U-tip pattern that frames the front of the shoe. Combined with its elongated silhouette and asymmetric pattern, the Gaspar offers a contemporary interpretation of the traditional derby.

Its versatility has made it a favorite among clients who want a shoe that feels equally appropriate with tailored clothing, denim, and business casual attire.

For many, the Gaspar becomes the pair they reach for most often.

The Art of a Hand-Stitched Apron

The defining feature of the Gaspar is its hand-stitched apron.

Unlike machine-produced stitching, each apron is sewn individually, requiring patience, consistency, and precision to maintain the symmetry of the design.

This process creates subtle variations that reflect the hand of the artisan while adding character that cannot be replicated through automation.

It is one of the details that gives the Gaspar its distinctive identity and has helped make it one of our most recognized designs.

Orion

For the inaugural Atelier Series release, we selected Orion.

One of our most recognizable handmade patinas, Orion combines deep black and midnight blue tones to create a finish that changes depending on the surrounding light.

In certain environments, the shoe appears almost entirely black. Under natural light, subtle blue undertones begin to emerge, revealing layers of depth and character.

Each pair is hand-finished individually in our Barcelona workshop, ensuring that no two pairs are exactly alike.

The result is a patina that remains versatile while offering far more visual complexity than a conventional black shoe.

Finished by Hand in Barcelona

Hand-finishing is where the individual components of the shoe come together as a finished whole.

For the upper, our artisans use a combination of dyes, inks, and waxes to gradually build the color and character of the Orion patina. Applied by hand, these materials allow for greater depth and nuance than can be achieved through pre-finished leathers alone.

The finishing process extends beyond the leather upper. Traditional tools are used throughout the final stages to refine and enhance the shoe's appearance. Along the welt, a heated welt iron is used to smooth and compress the surface while deepening its color and creating a cleaner, more refined profile. A heated fudge wheel is then applied to impress a crisp decorative line along the edge, adding one of the subtle details that has long distinguished fine shoemaking.

It is this combination of color, texture, and refinement that gives each pair its distinctive character before leaving our Barcelona workshop.

Atelier Series No. 1

Reservations for Atelier Series No. 1 are now open.

The reservation window will remain available through June 30, after which production will begin for all confirmed orders.

Clients may reserve their pair with either full payment or a 50% deposit.

As a thank you for participating in the inaugural Atelier Series release, every reserved pair will include a complimentary set of custom made shoe trees. An essential part of shoe care, they help preserve the shape of the shoe, absorb moisture after wear, and extend the life of the leather over time.

The Gaspar U-Tip Derby in Orion represents the first chapter of a new series that will allow us to revisit some of our favorite designs throughout the year.

We look forward to making this pair for you.
